50mm PC Fan

Jul 06, 2026

The 50mm PC fan is a miniaturized precision cooling fan specially designed for narrow space heat dissipation of computer hardware. With a 50-millimeter frame diameter, it is one of the smallest standard-size cooling fans in the PC hardware industry, focusing on solving the heat dissipation problem of compact hardware components and narrow internal spaces of computers. Different from conventional large-size fans used for case and radiator heat dissipation, the 50mm PC fan is positioned in precision local heat dissipation, with ultra-small volume, ultra-light weight, and high-speed air supply characteristics, and it is widely used in small-size computer equipment and precision hardware heat dissipation scenarios that large fans cannot cover.

In terms of structural design, the 50mm PC fan adopts a compact integrated frame structure, with a standard thickness of 15mm or 25mm, and a fixed mounting hole spacing of 40mm, which is specially adapted to the installation size of mini computer hardware. The fan blade design is refined and optimized. Usually, 5-7 thin blades are used to reduce the wind resistance of high-speed operation. The internal bearing is mainly miniature hydraulic bearing and micro ball bearing, which ensures the operational stability of high-speed rotation in a narrow space. The circuit board and coil structure are miniaturized and optimized, which not only saves space but also reduces electromagnetic interference, adapting to the precise working environment of computer precision components. The overall structure is firm and shockproof, which can avoid vibration noise caused by high-speed operation in a narrow installation space.

In terms of performance parameters, the 50mm PC fan presents the characteristics of high speed, small airflow, and high wind pressure. Due to the small fan blade area, to ensure effective heat dissipation, the rated speed of 50mm fans is usually as high as 3000 RPM to 6000 RPM, and some high-performance models can even reach 7000 RPM. The airflow is relatively small, ranging from 8 CFM to 15 CFM, but the local wind pressure is high, which can accurately blow heat away from the surface of precision hardware components and solve the problem of local heat accumulation. The working voltage is standard 12V DC, which is compatible with the power supply interface of all computer motherboards and small power supplies. Most 50mm fans adopt 2-pin fixed-speed design, and a small number of high-precision models support 3-pin speed measurement and 4-pin PWM speed regulation, meeting different precision heat dissipation control needs.

The core application scenarios of 50mm PC fans are concentrated in miniaturized computer equipment and local precision heat dissipation. In mini ITX small case computers, the internal space is extremely compact, and conventional 80mm and 120mm fans cannot be installed. The 50mm PC fan can be installed in the gaps of the case, motherboard, and graphics card to assist in exhausting internal hot air and solving the heat accumulation problem of small cases. For computer motherboard chipset heat dissipation, the PCH chip, audio chip, and network chip on the motherboard will generate heat during operation. The small-size 50mm fan can be fixed near the chip for targeted heat dissipation to avoid chip overheating and system instability.

In addition, 50mm PC fans are also widely used in independent graphics card auxiliary heat dissipation, laptop base heat dissipation, industrial control mini computer heat dissipation, and server hard disk bay heat dissipation. Many low-profile independent graphics cards with compact designs have no built-in cooling fans, and users can install 50mm fans for auxiliary heat dissipation to improve the continuous operating performance of the graphics card. In embedded industrial computers and mini host devices, the narrow internal space can only accommodate 50mm ultra-small fans, which provide continuous and stable air convection to ensure the normal operation of the equipment. At the same time, it is also used for heat dissipation of computer power supply small modules and optical drive hardware, covering almost all narrow-space heat dissipation scenarios of computer equipment.

In terms of product advantages and user value, the biggest feature of the 50mm PC fan is its irreplaceable spatial adaptability. It makes up for the heat dissipation blank of mini computer equipment and narrow hardware gaps, solving the pain point that precision small hardware is prone to heat accumulation and failure. Although its overall heat dissipation capacity is far lower than that of large-size fans, its targeted local heat dissipation effect is precise and efficient. The miniaturized design makes its power consumption extremely low, and long-term high-speed operation will not cause excessive power consumption loss. The product cost is low, the installation is flexible, and it can be fixed through screws or adhesive stickers, with extremely high installation freedom. For users who use mini hosts, ITX small case computers, and modified precision computer equipment, the 50mm PC fan is an essential auxiliary cooling component to ensure the stable operation of equipment.
