Intel LGA4677 CPU Fan

Aug 27, 2025

The Intel LGA4677 CPU Fan is an advanced cooling solution designed for Intels latest Xeon W-1400 (Workstation) and W-2400 (High-End Desktop/Workstation) processors, which utilize the LGA4677 socket. These CPUs represent Intels push into high-performance computing for professional workloads, including 3D modeling, scientific simulation, and content creation, with TDP ratings ranging from 65W to 220W. The LGA4677 fan is engineered to handle these thermal demands while supporting the sockets larger size, enhanced power delivery, and compatibility with modern workstation motherboards.

A key innovation in the LGA4677 CPU Fan is its adapted heatsink and mounting design. The LGA4677 socket has a larger footprint than its predecessors, with a 56mm x 54mm contact area, requiring a wider heatsink to ensure full coverage of the CPUs IHS. High-performance models feature a combination of copper heat pipes (68 in premium designs) and a dense aluminum fin array, optimized to spread heat efficiently across a larger surface area. This is critical because Xeon W-2400 processors, in particular, generate intense localized heat during multi-threaded tasks, and uneven cooling can lead to thermal throttling, reducing performance.

Fan technology is equally advanced. LGA4677 fans typically use 120mm or 140mm high-pressure impellers operating at 20004000 RPM, delivering 5080 CFM of airflow. Unlike enterprise server fans, which prioritize raw airflow over noise, LGA4677 fans balance performance with acoustics, using FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearings) and aerodynamic blades to keep noise levels between 3045 dBsuitable for professional workstations in offices or studios. PWM control is standard, allowing the fan to adjust speed dynamically based on CPU load, running quietly during light tasks (e.g., web browsing) and ramping up for rendering or simulation.

Compatibility is tailored to workstation ecosystems. LGA4677 fans fit motherboards with W680, W790, and C621 chipsets, used in workstations from Dell Precision, HP Z Workstations, and custom builds. They often include mounting kits that support both standard and low-profile configurations, making them versatile for different case sizesfrom full-tower workstations to compact SFF models used in creative workflows.

Durability is optimized for professional use. The heatsink materials (copper and aluminum) resist corrosion and thermal fatigue, while FDB bearings are rated for 70,000+ operating hours, ensuring longevity even in systems used 1012 hours daily. Many models also include thermal paste with high thermal conductivity (1215 W/mK), pre-applied to ensure optimal heat transfer between the CPU and heatsinkcritical for maintaining consistent performance in time-sensitive workloads.

In addition to air cooling, liquid cooling solutions (all-in-one closed-loop coolers) are increasingly common for LGA4677, especially for overclocked Xeon W-2400 CPUs. These liquid coolers use a copper cold plate that matches the LGA4677 sockets dimensions, paired with a 240mm or 360mm radiator and high-static-pressure fans, delivering superior cooling for sustained heavy loads.

In conclusion, the Intel LGA4677 CPU Fan is a vital component for unlocking the performance of next-gen Xeon workstations. Its large-format design, balanced cooling and noise performance, and workstation-specific compatibility make it essential for professionals relying on Xeon W-1400 and W-2400 processors for demanding tasks.
