Server Fan 8038 15000RPM Cooling Performance

Sep 03, 2025

The Server Fan 8038, operating at 15000RPM, is a mid-to-high-speed cooling solution tailored for mid-tower or 3U/4U servers, where its larger 80mm (width) x 38mm (depth) form factor enables robust cooling without the extreme noise of 30000RPM fans. Its cooling performance is defined by three core metrics: airflow delivery, static pressure, and heat transfer efficiency, all of which align with the needs of servers running moderate-to-heavy workloads (e.g., virtualization servers, database servers, or small-scale cloud infrastructure).

At 15000RPM, the 8038 fan delivers exceptional airflow, ranging from 45 to 60 CFMsignificantly higher than compact 40mm fans (e.g., the 4056 30000RPMs 1825 CFM). This high airflow volume is critical for cooling large surface areas, such as the heat sinks of multi-core CPUs (e.g., Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC) or multiple 2.5-inch SSDs, as it distributes cool air evenly across the servers internal cavity. Static pressure, while lower than high-RPM 40mm fans (typically 4070 Pa), is sufficient to overcome airflow resistance in moderately dense chassis, ensuring air reaches components rather than being blocked by cables or drive bays.

Heat transfer efficiency is further enhanced by the fans blade design: most 8038 models use aerodynamic, curved blades with a high aspect ratio, which reduces turbulence and maximizes air movement per rotation. When paired with a servers built-in temperature sensors and PWM control, the fan dynamically adjusts its speeddropping to 800010000RPM during low-load periods (e.g., nighttime idle) to reduce noise (3545 dB) and energy consumption (0.71.0A at 12V), while ramping up to 15000RPM (5055 dB) during peak loads (e.g., high-traffic database queries).

Real-world testing confirms its effectiveness: in a 3U server with two Intel Xeon 8375C CPUs and 128GB of RAM, the 8038 15000RPM fan maintained CPU temperatures at 6575°C under 100% load (vs. 8595°C with a 40mm fan), preventing thermal throttling and ensuring consistent performance. Its dual-ball bearing design also ensures durability, with an MTBF of 55,000 hours, making it a reliable choice for 24/7 server operations.
